1932: Ray Maloney founded Bally’s in Chicago as a pinball manufacturer.
1940s: Bally’s diversified into a variety of industries, from slot machines to defense manufacturing during World War II.
1958: Maloney died and left Bally’s in the hands of his sons, Don and Ray Jr. The company struggled to stay afloat, and they decided to sell.
1969: The company went public and expanded with acquisitions ranging from woodworking firms to competing arcade manufacturers.
1979: Bally’s opened its first casino, Park Place Hotel & Casino, in Atlantic City.
